Religious Organizations on Campus© 2003 Ron Taylor. All Rights Reserved.
Campus Outreach When incoming freshmen arrive at WCU they may not know what to do with themselves. With some people religion plays a major part in the lives. It keeps them grounded and helps them make friends when they make there new start in school. The question is which religious organization is right for you? There are a lot of different religious organizations on campus. Some are: Campus Outreach, Campus Rock, BSU (Baptist Student Union), JSA (Jewish Student Association), and the Presbyterian Church. Finding the right group can take a while, so I did a little research on some of them for you, to make your search a little easier. Campus OutreachCampus Outreach “focuses on not only evangelism as well as growing people up in Christ through discipleship and life on life relationships”. They are of no certain denomination, so everyone is welcome. They have meetings on Tuesday nights at 9:30 in the west wing of the Dodson cafeteria. The vision statement for Campus Outreach is "building laborers on the campus for the lost world". For more information you can go to www.campusoutreach.org Campus RockCampus Rock is a non-denominational religious organization that has meetings on Monday nights at 8:00pm in Illusions. They are a very active organization with bible study meetings on Wednesday, for girls, and Thursday for guys. They also go on a bi yearly retreat called “The Event”, which anyone can attend. For more information you can go to www.campusrock.org BSUBaptist Student Union (BSU) is a student organized Baptist group. They have weekly meetings on Thursdays at 7:00pm. BSU is very accepting of the people who come their way, and it isn’t mandatory that you are a Baptist to attend their meetings either. For more information you can go to http://paws.wcu.edu/bsu/. If you don’t feel like you can stick with one group, then it is
ok to “flip flop” to find which group best fits you. They
are very open to new comers and welcome whoever seeks them. Remember “come
as you are!” ReferencesReferences |
